Abstract
Solid complexes of some mono- and bis-arylazo-chromotropic acid dyes w ith vanadium(IV) were prepared and subjected to elemental analysis and thermogravimetric analysis. The results of elemental analysis were in good agreement with those required by the proposed formula VO(Na2HL) .2H2O!2+SO42- where L is the chromotropic acid mono-(I) or bis-azo dye (II). The thermal degradations of the prepared complexes are discussed in an attempt to assign the intermediate compounds formed.
