Abstract
Parenthood among women of school age is generally believed to be the c ause of a wide range of health and social problems, including child ab use and neglect. This article will review the evidence for an associat ion between early parenthood and abuse/neglect. It will also discuss t he programmatic and policy implications of such an association and the possibility that the cause and effect relationship may be reversed in some cases.
