Abstract
Anion-defective alpha-Al2O3:C is a novel material for gamma-radiation thermoluminescent (TL) dosimetry. We have studied the effect that UV i rradiation has on the TL response of this material. UV exposure yields TL emission that can be longer than the TL emission produced after X- ray exposure. Thus, for dosimetric applications UV irradiation must be avoided.
