SEASONAL DYNAMICS OF WEEVIL COMMUNITIES (COLEOPTERA, CURCULIONIDAE) IN LEAF BEARING CROWNS OF ALNUS-GLUTINOSA (L)

The author focuses on the study of crown stratocoenoses dynamics in Al nus glutinosa in Little Carpathians (SW Slovakia). Together with willo ws (Salix fragilis and S. caprea) this tree species is most chracteris tic of the plant communities on brook alluvia. The material was collec ted by a beating tray of 1 m in diameter (1 quantitative sample = beat ing from 25 branches) at regular 2-week intervals during three vegetat ion periods on four study areas. In additon to the abundance dynamics also changes in species number, diversity, eveness and dominance index of the weevil communities have been investigated. Special attention h as been paid to the seasonal changes in representation of the topic an d trophic groups of weevil adults in the individual months of the vege tation period.
