Abstract
Karst may become a very serious disaster in tunneling if there is no p rediction or warning. We developed an expert system, based on expertis e of Chinese experts in karst science and in underground engineering, for prediction of karst debacles when a tunnel is excavated through a carbonate rock area. This system has been demonstrated and affirmed by domain experts.
