The three-dimensional global current system produced by currents defle
cted towards the Earth from the magnetopause is considered. This syste
m is supposed to be divided into two parts: day- and nightside branche
s. In the frame of the magnetic field line reconnection model, the cur
rent intensity and the magnetic field (Y-component) produced by the la
tter in the plasma sheet was estimated. It is found that the ratio of
magnetic field intensities in the plasma sheet and in the solar wind e
quals 0.5, which agrees with experimental data.
