Abstract
The different stages of Hindola striata Maa in Java and H. fulva Baker on clove (Syzygium) in Sumatra were investigated. Data are presented on the duration of egg and nymphal stages and their positions on the p lant. Hymenopterous and Dipterous parasites attacking the eggs and nym phs are described. The natural enemy complex of these clove-dwelling i nsects is contrasted with that of H. viridicans Stal on Melastoma sp. Some observations on adult behaviour and biology are made, particularl y as these relate to the spread of Sumatra disease.
