Abstract
The search for sustainable funding systems for community initiatives r eports on the discussions and conclusions of a workshop on loan financ e for community level initiatives in land acquisition, housing constru ction or improvement and infrastructure and service provision. The pap er also discusses the most appropriate terms and conditions tor loan f inance and the broader financial and institutional issues involved in its provision; and how NGOs' work in this area fits within a broader c ontext of mobilizing social change.
