A multifractal analysis is carried out for charged-particle fluctuatio
ns in the pseudorapidity space of central C-(Ne, Cu) collisions at 4.5
GeV/c per nucleon. The multifractal spectral function is constructed,
and the generalized dimensions are calculated. It is found that the p
article pseudorapidity distributions are multifractal in nature. It is
shown that the method is sensitive to multiparticle fluctuations, and
indications of the nonstatistical character of these fluctuations are
obtained.
