P. Kundur et al., PRACTICAL CONSIDERATIONS IN VOLTAGE STABILITY ASSESSMENT, INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF ELECTRICAL POWER AND ENERGY SYSTEMS, 15(4), 1993, pp. 205-215
In recent years, much attention has been afforded the subject of volta
ge stability and as a result, analysis tools and techniques have emerg
ed which are suitable for application to practical system problems. Th
e aim of this paper is to discuss some important issues which must be
considered when assessing the voltage stability of power systems. A br
ief background on the fundamentals of the phenomenon of voltage stabil
ity is provided, and then the focus is shifted to the application of t
he latest analysis tools and techniques. Modelling requirements and st
udy methods are discussed for both dynamic analysis and steady state a
nalysis approaches. Finally, a demonstration of the use of modal analy
sis is presented which illustrates both the basic method, and the pote
ntial for its use in designing remedial measures.
