In order to establish a frequency standard in the visible, the frequen
cy of a dye laser, stabilized to the Ca intercombination line at lambd
a = 657 nm, has to be compared with the frequency of the primary stand
ard of time and frequency. Relying on the existing frequency chain at
PTB to the infrared, we report on the realization of the missing inter
mediate frequency multiplication steps from a CO2 laser, phase locked
to the Cs clock, to the Ca-stabilized dye laser.
