P. Gutmann, A COMPARISON OF THE CRYOGENIC CURRENT COMPARATOR AND THE JOSEPHSON POTENTIOMETER IN RESISTANCE BRIDGES USING THEIR FIGURES OF MERIT, IEEE transactions on instrumentation and measurement, 42(2), 1993, pp. 385-390
The introduction of nearly error-free dc quantum standards of voltage
and ohm is a challenge for precision metrology to improve the precisio
n of measurements. Therefore, the principles and the performance of dc
resistance bridges with the cryogenic current comparator and the Jose
phson potentiometer are discussed and their figures of merit are estab
lished, showing the present state of the art and the limitations given
by the noise of the detectors and the quality of available resistance
standards.
