SYNTHESES AND X-RAY STUDIES OF DERIVATIVES OF 4-ACETYL-2-QUINOXALINONE - A REINVESTIGATION OF REACTIONS OF N,N'-BIS(CHLOROACETYL)-O-PHENYLENEDIAMINE WITH AMINES

The reaction of N,N'-bis(chloroacetyl)-o-phenylenediamine (1) with p-p henethidine gave 2-quinoxalinone (2) and -ethoxyphenyl)amino-1-oxoethy l!-o-phenylenediamine (3). In previous papers, the obtained cyclic com pounds were wrongly described as derivatives of 2,3,4,5,6,7-hexahydro 1H-1,4,7-benzotriazonine 1!. As a result of intermolecular reaction o f 1, 1,2-dihydro-2-quinoxalinone (4) and 1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-2-quinoxal inone (6) have been obtained. The structures of the compounds have bee n confirmed by the X-ray crystal structure analyses.
