Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are common problems with worldwid
e distribution and immense social and economic costs. Changing epidemi
ologies and drug susceptibilities make management of these infections
difficult. This article addresses the diagnosis and treatment of the S
TDs that are most pertinent to dermatologic practice, including anogen
ital warts, anogenital herpes, syphilis, chancroid, lymphogranuloma ve
nereum, granuloma inguinale, molluscum contagiosum, and scabies.
