Abstract
In his distinguished Presidency of the Society, Sir Crispin Tickell ha s frequently challenged Geographers to further our understanding of hu man involvement in the processes of environmental change. In the paper published below, he addresses the immediacy of this concern. Sir Cris pin retired from the Presidency in June of this year.
