J. Brozek et J. Hoskovec, CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE HISTORY OF PSYCHOLOGY .96. PSYCHOLOGY IN COMMUNIST AND POSTCOMMUNIST CZECHOSLOVAKIA - TOWARD A SYNTHESIS, Psychological reports, 73(1), 1993, pp. 239-248
In psychology, the effects of the anti-Communist ''Velvet Revolution''
of November, 1989 were profound, complex, and for the most part posit
ive. Our initial communication in 1990 stressed the need to replace ''
the old structures'' in a variety of psychological institutions and or
gans. Subsequent partial accounts represented conference reports (Hosk
ovec & Brozek, 1992; Hoskovec, Kovac, & Brozek, in press). Here, follo
wing comment on prior history, we cover several aspects of the develop
ments through 1992: teaching and learning, research institutions, publ
ications (with special reference to journals), professional associatio
ns, and psychological services.
