J. Vartiainen, CRISIS IS OUR BUSINESS - ECONOMIC-POLICY IN FINLAND AND INSTABILITY IN THE ECONOMY, Ekonomiska samfundets tidskrift, 46(2), 1993, pp. 59-65
This article deals with Finnish economic policy since the thirties. Th
e author has, together with Jukka Pekkarinen, recently published a boo
k on the same subject. According to the author the economic policy in
Finland has followed a line of its own. The main target has been econo
mic growth, while the elimination of cyclical fluctuations has been of
lesser importance. Furthermore, fiscal policy has been basically non-
Keynesian and the main fiscal policy constraint has been the budgetary
constraint. Fiscal policy has mostly been pro-cyclical and the instab
ility of the Finnish economy has thus been aggravated.
