The copolymerization of aziridine (Az) as nucleophilic monomer and suc
cinic anhydride as electrophilic monomer without initiator in solution
under different mol ratio was investigated. Copolymers were character
ized by elemental analyses, i.r. and H-1-NMR spectroscopy. For all fee
d mole ratio of comonomer, Az is incorporated preferentially in the co
polymer. For the soluble copolymers it is possible by H-1-NMR spectros
copy to determine the Az-homodyad concentration. The copolymerization
reaction occurs by an intermediate ''genetic zwitterion''.
