Abstract
Alkyl formates are obtained with 100% selectivity by reacting alcohols with CO under pressure in the presence of a phosphine-alkyne catalyti c system. Conversions are affected by carbon monoxide pressure and rea ction temperature. 93% conversion of the alcohol is obtained at 50-deg rees-C under 80 atm CO.
