EXCESS MOLAR ENTHALPIES OF MIXTURES OF PYRROLIDIN-2-ONE WITH METHANOL, OR ETHANOL, OR PROPAN-1-OL, OR BUTAN-1-OL, OR PENTAN-1-OL AT THE TEMPERATURE 303.15 K

The excess molar enthalpies H-m(E) have been measured for mixtures of
pyrrolidin-2-one with methanol, or ethanol, or propan-1-ol, or butan-1
-ol, or pentan-1-ol over the whole composition range at T = 303.15 K.
The H-m(E) values are positive for all the mixtures over the whole mol
e fraction range except for methanol which exhibits a sigmoid curve wi
th a maximum at low mole fraction of pyrrolidin-2-one. The values of H
-m(E) increase in the order methanol < ethanol < propanol < butanol <
pentanol. The excess partial molar enthalpies of the components have a
lso been evaluated. The results are interpreted in terms of specific i
nteractions. (C) 1997 Academic Press Limited.
