Abstract
Wigner crystallisation of two-dimensional electrons in GaAs/AlGaAs het erostructures is investigated by time-resolved photoluminescence. For the electrons in the pinned Wigner solid, the recombination time is fo und to increase exponentially with the magnetic field, whereas it rema ins constant for the liquid phase. A phase diagram for the Wigner soli d is derived from the different time scales of the liquid and solid ph ases.
