X. Delamballerie et al., A NEW APPROACH TO HEPATITIS-C VIRUS SERO-DIAGNOSIS USING 2 DIFFERENT ELISA TESTS, Medical microbiology letters, 2(5), 1993, pp. 231-238
Five hundred and sixty sera submitted for HCV serology were tested wit
h a classical diagnostic protocol (using an ELISA test for screening a
nd an immunoblot in case of positivity) and a protocol using two diffe
rent ELISA tests and the immunoblot only in case of contradictory or d
oubtful results. The two protocols were found to be of comparable spec
ificity, but the latter was found more sensitive, and less expensive w
hen the percentage of ELISA seropositivity was high.
