Abstract
The crystal structure of 2-N-morpholino!ethane sulfonic acid hydrate, MES, was solved by direct methods from single-crystal X-ray diffracti on data. The structure is monoclinic, space group P2(1)/c (No. 14) wit h the lattice parameters a = 8.632(4), b = 9.985(6), c = 11.150(6) ang strom, beta = 93.77(3)-degrees and Z = 4. Attempts to solve the struct ure from synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction data were unsuccessful.
