Abstract
An ultraviolet photoelectron spectrum of phenyl alpha-nitronyl nitroxi de (PNN) has been studied in the gas phase, in order to understand the potentiality of the alpha-nitronyl nitroxide radical family yielding ferromagnetic intermolecular coupling. The observed spectrum has been well interpreted with the help of CNDO-CI calculation. Very strong spi n polarization effect has been suggested, which is advantageous for th e intermolecular ferromagnetic coupling.
