Da. Dougherty et al., NEW ORGANIC POLYMERS AND MOLECULES WITH VERY HIGH-SPIN STATES, Molecular crystals and liquid crystals science and technology. Section A, Molecular crystals and liquid crystals, 232, 1993, pp. 289-304
A number of new organic tetraradicals with quintet ground states have
been prepared. Along with their intrinsic significance, these structur
es provide valuable tests of certain design principles for the constru
ction of organic magnetic materials. The tetraradicals all follow the
''bis(TMM)'' approach, which promises to provide a wealth of informati
on on spin preferences in organic structures. Efforts to prepare proto
types of the polaronic ferromagnet are also described. Current work is
aimed at evaluating the role of bipolaron formation in such systems,
in an effort to increase the absolute spin concentration.
