Abstract
Protoanemonin has been isolated from the Australian 'Headache Vine' Cl ematis glycinoides. Quantitative examination of this and the other six Australian Clematis taxa has shown protoanemonin concentrations of 2. 19,0.31, 1.96,0.17,0.87,1.31 and 1.21% (dry weight) for C. aristata, C . fawcettii, C. gentianoides, C. glycinoides, C. microphylla, C. micro phylla var. leptophylla and C. pubescens, respectively.
