Abstract
Benign familial neonatal convulsions (BFNC) is a syndrome of neonatal seizures with a generally benign outcome and is classified as a primar y generalized epilepsy. We report the first complete ictal EEG in a ne wborn infant with BFNC. The EEG shows generalized electrodecrement at seizure onset, rhythmic bifrontal discharges, and no consistent focal features. This pattern is distinctly unusual for a neonatal EEG and is consistent with the classification of BFNC as a generalized epilepsy.
