Abstract
Thirty five ewes were infected with Psoroptes ovis by contact with she ep that had active sheep scab disease. The levels of infection varied from mild to severe. Five infected ewes were not treated (positive con trols); five scab-free sheep acted as negative controls. Thirty ewes w ere given subcutaneous injections of ivermectin MSD cattle preparation at a dose rate of 200 mcg/kg on two occasions 10 days part. Only one of the 30 ewes was not cured by a single injection; in that ewe, a sec ond injection 10 days later completely eliminated the disease.
