O. Andrisano et al., PERFORMANCE OF NARROW-BAND CPM SYSTEMS WITH LIMITER-DISCRIMINATOR-INTEGRATOR DETECTION AND DECISION FEEDBACK EQUALIZATION IN MOBILE RADIO CHANNELS, IEEE transactions on vehicular technology, 42(2), 1993, pp. 166-176
A completely analytical approach is presented to achieve error probabi
lity analysis of limiter-discriminator-integrator (LDI) detection of b
inary continuous-phase modulation in a land mobile radio channel chara
cterized by Rayleigh fading and Doppler effects. Optimum choice of the
post-detection integration time is carried out when varying both syst
em parameters and propagation characteristics, namely the Doppler shif
t. The improvements obtainable by means of decision feedback equalizat
ion (DFE) are also considered, in the presence of error propagation. T
he algorithm pointed out allows a very general analysis, which can be
applied both to a partial and a full response modulation pulse, with n
arrowband IF filter and multipath propagation. This leads to the optim
ization of various system parameters, such as filter bandwidth, the mo
dulation index, and the post-detection integration time, whatever the
choice of the modulation pulse.
