Am. Dorfman et al., FORMATION OF A PROTECTIVE LAYER IN THE COURSE OF INHIBITION OF ACIDICCORROSION OF IRON BY DIBENZYLSULFOXIDE, Protection of metals, 33(2), 1997, pp. 107-110
Kinetics of the formation of an inhibiting layer during the adsorption
of dibenzylsulfoxide on an iron surface in hydrochloric acid is studi
ed gravimetrically and with x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The surf
ace protective layer gradually formed by adsorbing dibenzylsulfoxide a
nd its reduced products is shown to account for the properties of dibe
nzylsulfoxide as an inhibitor of acidic corrosion of iron.
