Abstract
Nanometer sized cadmium sulfide particles were prepared in N,N-dimethy lformamide, using thiourea as the sulfurizing agent and thioglycerine as stabilizer. For particles with diameters of less than 40 angstrom t he size dependent solubility was utilized to separate the particles ac cording to their size. The absorption spectra of the size separated sa mples exhibit well pronounced excitonic absorption bands indicating a very narrow size distribution.
