Parametric excitation of phonons by a microwave magnetic field has bee
n performed for the first time in antiferromagnet alpha-Fe2O3 with a h
igh Neel temperature. Pumping of phonons is observed at all orientatio
ns of microwave and static magnetic fields in the easy plane. The thre
shold amplitudes for parallel and perpendicular pumping are measured o
ver wide ranges of magnetic fields and temperatures. The relaxation ra
te of excited phonons is calculated. Instabilities of different kinds
have been observed in the system of parametric phonons.
