A mathematical model for the velocity and concentration fields in the
continuous phase of a two-phase stream running in a column extractor i
s developed. A method to calculate these fields is proposed. The motio
n equations are solved by the variational method in which the local Gl
ansdorff-Prigogine potential is used as a functional to be minimized.
