We measured noise exposure and temporary threshold shift (TTS) from a
rock concert for 22 volunteers, using dosimetry, questionnaires, and a
udiometry. Most (81%) participants showed TTS of 10 dB or more 5 to 25
minutes after exposure, of these, 76% showed continued TTS at 40 to 6
0 minutes. Family physicians should counsel patients about the risks o
f recreational noise.
