The economic success or failure of many cow-calf operations depends on
the cost and efficiency of production. The integrated resource manage
ment (IRM) concept of problem solving has proven useful in solving pro
ducers' problems. Successful implementation includes identification an
d involvement of key resource people, careful coordination of activiti
es, and open communication. An IRM system that was developed with cow-
calf producers in a five-county area of southeastern Idaho is presente
d as a model.
