Abstract
This paper presents a calculation of the propagation of basic pH in a reservoir rock based on either a kinetically controlled reaction or a thermodynamic equilibrium assumption. Results demonstrate that the kin etic approach is the only way to analyze the interactions of alkaline chemicals with clayey sandstones properly.
