Cation exchangers have been prepared from cork charcoal obtained at te
mperatures of 300, 400, 500, and 600-degrees-C by sulphonating with su
lphuric acid and 10 and 20% oleum at 80, 100, and 120-degrees-C. Some
of the exchangers obtained had an exchange capacity around 2 meq g-1 a
nd very high thermal stability.
