Jv. Lucey et al., ELEVATED GROWTH-HORMONE RESPONSES TO PYRIDOSTIGMINE IN OBSESSIVE-COMPULSIVE DISORDER - EVIDENCE OF CHOLINERGIC SUPERSENSITIVITY, The American journal of psychiatry, 150(6), 1993, pp. 961-962
The growth hormone response to the acetylcholinesterase inhibitor pyri
dostigmine was measured in nine normothymic outpatients who met DSM-II
I-R criteria for obsessive-compulsive disorder. The responses were sig
nificantly elevated when compared to those found in a healthy comparis
on group (N=9). The data suggest that cholinergic supersensitivity is
present in obsessive-compulsive disorder.
