S. Smart et S. Swain, ASYMMETRIC 2-LEVEL RESONANCE FLUORESCENCE-SPECTRA AND DRESSED STATE POPULATIONS IN A SQUEEZED VACUUM, Quantum optics, 5(2), 1993, pp. 75-83
We calculate the resonance fluorescence of a two-level atom interactio
n with a resonant classical applied field and a squeezed vacuum for ge
neral values of the squeezing phase. We find that the spectra am asymm
etric under the conditions: (i) the Rabi frequency must not be too lar
ge and (ii) the squeezing phase should be of order pi/2. Large asymmet
ries are obtainable, even if the three peaks of the spectrum are clear
ly resolved. An interpretation is provided by means of a dressed state
analysis. Under conditions (i) and (ii). we also find that very large
differences in the dressed state populations can occur.
