A method for measuring the concentration of water vapour in the mesopa
use by active sensing at resonance wavelengths of the rotational spect
rum is described and justified. It is shown that, for two-frequency se
nsing, simultaneous measurement of the height profiles of the concentr
ation of water vapour and of the temperature within the mesopause is p
ossible; in this case, mesospheric clouds do not hinder the taking of
the measurements.
