MULTIFRACTAL NATURE OF THE LINEAMENT DENSITY (BASED ON THE EXAMPLE OFTHE KOLA-PENINSULA)

Based on the analysis of the lineament network of the territory of the Kola Peninsula, derived from the interpretation of space images of va rious scales, the multifractal nature of the lineament density is exhi bited and geological interpretation of the spectrum of fractal dimensi ons is shown to be possible. The invariance of the density distributio n, for analysis of images of the lineament network of the territory on small and large scales, attests to the scaling properties of these st ructural elements, which objectively reflect the heterogeneity of the geological setting.
