Abstract
A case with surgical emphysema of the left cervicofacial region follow ing an isolated fracture of the mandible is presented. It is emphasize d that facial trauma associated with surgical emphysema requires close observation for the possible development of serious complications. Th e etiology, pathophysiology and treatment of this condition are discus sed with a review of the literature.
