Abstract
The electrical resistivity, the magnetization, and the specific heat w ere measured. The residual resistivity rho0 and the residual resistivi ty ratio rho(R.T.)/rho0 are 31 muOMEGA cm and 7. 1, respectively. It w as found that La3Co shows superconductivity below a transition tempera ture T(c) of 4.4 K. The upper critical field H(c2) and lower critical field Hl at 0 K are estimated to be about 21 and 1 kOe, respectively, and using the relation of H(c1)/H(c2) congruent-to xi2/lambda2, the ra tio xi/lambda is estimated to be 0.2. The energy gap 2DELTA and the Fe rmi energy are estimated to be 13 X 10(-4) and 0.14 eV, respectively.
