Abstract
Treatment of nitroalkene 1 with t-butyl hydroperoxide and m-chloroperb enzoic acid gave the SN2' product and 2,3-anhydro derivative, respecti vely, in high yields. The former product is proved to be useful interm ediate for introduction of nucleophiles at C-4.
