Abstract
In this work we studied the reaction of 2,3-O-isopropylidene-D-glycera ldehyde 1 with diazoacetone 2, the photochemical behaviour of the cond ensation product, and analysed the protector group effect that modifie s the photochemically induced intramolecular processes of the condensa tion product and its derivatives. We report the successful stereoselec tive synthesis of 3-hydroxy-2-methyl carboxilate derivatives with thre o relative configurations.
