SEVERE INSULIN-INDUCED LIPOHYPERTROPHY SUCCESSFULLY TREATED BY LIPOSUCTION

OBJECTIVE- To examine the usefulness of liposuction surgery on diabeti c patients with lipohypertrophy. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS- We treat ed a diabetic patient who suffered from severe localized thigh lipohyp ertrophy. When she did not respond to conventional treatment of restin g the injection site, we recommended liposuction surgery.RESULTS- Our patient's lipohypertrophy was immediately cured by the liposuction pro cedure. CONCLUSIONS- Liposuction surgery could be useful in patients w ith diabetic lipohypertrophy who do not respond to more conservative t reatments.
