Abstract
We have detected a reentrant phase transition within well-separated bi molecular layers of diacylphosphates. The disorder-order-disorder tran sitions of the hydrocarbon chains can be accounted for on the basis of the electrostatic energy between bilayers and the elastic compressibi lity energy within bilayers.
