M. Kozova et E. Kalivodova, ECOLOGICAL EVALUATION OF THE TERRITORY IN URBAN AGGLOMERATIONS - (AN EXAMPLE OF THE SOLUTION ON THE TERRITORY OF BRATISLAVA), EKOLOGIA-BRATISLAVA, 12(1), 1993, pp. 81-91
The aim of the contribution is to explain the procedure of the ecologi
cal evaluation of the territory of Bratislava and proposals for the cr
eation of ecological balance in specific urban conditions. We characte
rize in detail these outputs that express the ecological ''value'' of
the natural environment and propose new ecologically stabilizing eleme
nts. We have elaborated: interpretation maps expressing the quality of
biotic components and present state of the landscape ecological stabi
lity, proposal of the ecologically optimum use of agricultural land re
serves and proposal of the territorial system of ecological stability.
The results of the ecological evaluation were used in the ''Concept o
f the ecologically optimum use of the territory of the capital of Slov
ak Republic - Bratislava'' (1991). The decision-making process and the
selection of ecological alternatives issued from the degree of suitab
ility, and/or unsuitability of individual categories of the functional
use of the territory, respecting the most important limits. A method
was applied, that enabled to determine the carrying capacity with resp
ect to chosen activities and their combinations at present and in futu
re as well.
