Photosensitive microcapsules, which are thermally quite stable, are fo
rmed via interfacial polycondensation in which one of the shell-formin
g reactants contains an azo function. An azo monomer, containing alpha
,omega-carboxylic diacid dichloride was reacted with a trifunctional a
liphatic amine on the oil-water interface resulting in a shell-forming
crosslinked polyamide. The size of the resulting photosensitive micro
capsules was determined. It could be shown that these microcapsules ca
n be opened by means of UV-light.
