Abstract
A new aristolactam, o-4-hydroxy-2,3-dimethoxyphenanthrene-1-carboxylic acid lactam, was isolated from the stem of Piper acutisleginum. The s tructures of two related alkaloids, piperolactam B and D, have been re vised.
